BY-LAWS OF THE CONNECTICUT ARTS ADMINISTRATORS ASSOCIATION (Revised January 2016)
ARTICLE I: Name and Purpose
The name of the association shall be the Connecticut Arts Administrators Association, hereinafter referred to as “CAAA”.
The purpose of the association shall be:
A. To provide a forum for the dissemination of exemplary arts education Practices in Dance, Music, Theatre and Visual Art.
B. To provide professional development to assist those responsible for local arts education in informing students’ arts learning or improve the ability of those responsible for local arts education to improve students’ arts learning.
C. To provide a vehicle for communication and collaboration with the State Department of Education, other state arts and education organizations, and teacher preparation institutions.
D. To provide a forum in which leaders of arts education from diverse settings can participate in the setting of statewide policies affecting
local arts education.
E. To engage in other activities that increase students’ access to quality education in all of the arts.
ARTICLE II: Membership
An Arts Administrator, to be considered for membership in this organization shall:
A. Serve as an arts educator or arts supervisor,
B. Be duly appointed by his/her supervisory board to act as a district administrator/coordinator or teacher leader,
C. Work in a supervisory and/or leadership capacity with other teachers in the same Arts or related field/organization,
D. Work as a college-level Arts or related field department chairperson or designated representative, in a college with an arts or related field
certification program. or
E. Serve as an arts-in-residence consultant or resource
F. Be a retired arts educator or arts supervisor
ARTICLE III: Officers
The officers of this organization who shall be elected for a two year term shall be:
Elected Every Two Years (Odd Years)
A. President, who will prepare the agenda and chair the meetings.
B. Vice-President, who will serve as an officer for two years before becoming President.
C. Past President, who will serve as an officer for two years after being President.
Elected Every Two Years (Even Years)
D. A Treasurer, who will receive and disburse all association funds, prepare statements and reports at the direction of the officers and the membership.
E. A Secretary, who will record minutes, and maintain a file of minutes.
Elected Odd Years
F. Chairpersons from CMEA, CAEA, EDTA, CDA and CAAE, who are appointed by those organizations.
G. A membership chairperson.
H. The State Arts Consultant(s) will serve as an ex-officio advisor of the organization.
